First time homeownership is plummeting

Today's housing market benefits the rentseekers that already own property and plan on renting new property. New homes need to be build faster and cheaper if we want any hope of a next generation of homeowners. My proposal is smaller houses on smaller lots. A long unused lot, be it empty or abandoned, can be divided into new, smaller property lines where small homes designed to be affordable for first time home buyers can be built. A standard home is about 1600 square feet, what I propose is about 800 square feet which is the size of an apartment rental but with the benefits of home ownership.

Built tall and wide

In addition to conventional and small homes, I would like to see in increase in dense residential buildings, be it rental apartments or owned condos, I don't believe were building enough quick enough. We have the man power, we have the need. There's no reason we shouldn't be able to meet demand.

Turn abandoned schools into housing

How many old school buildings does windsor have sitting empty and abandoned? With a bit of spit and polish we can turn them into entire housing units where families live in a classroom turned apartment. I would like to see them either as part of the transitional housing for the unhoused or a family dwelling, as long as we put these pieces of history to good use.

Apartment safety

City owned rental is intended for the renters, not anyone off the street that can get in. The police are not private security for councilors homes and they're not private security for apartments. There's no excuse why we cant have full time dedicated security protecting our seniors and retirees.
